Welcome to Bessemer Aquaponics working to bring both small scale and
large scale commercial Aquaponics to Northeast Greensboro and all of
Greensboro in the hopes of making Greensboro, the Piedmont Triad and
North Carolina a world leader in the teaching and production of quality
fish and produce production skills.
Our vision places farms in food deserts and low income urban and
rural communities where the unemployed already live and provides
sustainable agriculture that can be practiced on any level from the
backyard hobbyist hoping to simply supplement the family diet with low
cost healthy food to the Farmer/ Entrepreneur who is hoping to create
industrial scale production to ship world wide.
Our farming model uses from 2-10% as much water as conventional farming
and has zero waste as all byproducts are used as animal feed and/or farm
products and chemicals needed for industry.
Our long term goals include running our farm on solar or other forms of
alternative electricity.
The focus at Bessemer Aquaponics will be on teaching others how to build and do Aquponics themselves. As our location is zoned Institutional we will be working with local institutions of higher learning to bring hands on training to those who want it with a focus on urban, rural and point of sale agriculture placing emphasis on quality, low cost and energy efficiency.
And like noted above, our byproducts will include farm products, among them,
great organic fertilizers-- the best in the world-- to be used in
conventional farming and possibly Hydroponics.
